It is the policy of the Collected Works project to refer to all people with dignity. Women as well as men are referred to by their surnames and honorifics where appropriate.
We encourage all researchers, students, scholars, etc., to do the same.
The growing practice of referring to adult women by their first names, and even worse, by nicknames, while surnames are used for their male counterparts, sends a message as to the relative seriousness of their contribution.
